![]() Public ServicesFlotilla 02-05 actively provide safety patrols on Chicago area waterways and regularly meet with the boating public at marinas and in classrooms as a Public Service. If you are interested in joining our Flotilla or the Auxiliary period; visit our Recruiting page. The Auxiliary has a mission which consists of four primary programs, or Cornerstones, these Cornerstones are; 1. Conduct Vessel Exams- This is a service to owners of recreational boats. Qualified Vessel Examiners determine if a boat is in compliance with Federal and State laws and issue a Decal if in compliance with regulations. 2. Public Education- Auxiliary Instructors, trained to perform this service, educate boaters in the basic principles of piloting, seamanship and safety. 3. Operations- This involves surface and non-military air operations utilizing members' facilities, (boats & planes) in a wide variety of patrols and search and rescue missions. Members participating in this or any Auxiliary program have NO law enforcement authority. 4. Fellowship- This is an important aspect in making the volunteer missions successful. At all social events and official meetings, Auxiliarists with like interest establish friendships and compatible working atmosphere. We in Flotilla 02-05 take these Cornerstones seriously. We will offer Public Education classes at Rustic Acres in Burr Ridge, Illinois during 2006. |
